2001 Ferrari 550 Barchetta

The 550 Maranello was first introduced in 1996, and with a front-engined 5.4 litre V12, mated to a six speed gearbox, and a tubular steel framed chassis, clothed in light aluminium bodywork, it was obvious many collectors would see it as the modern incarnate of the legendary Daytona.

Ferrari S.p.A.'s fortieth anniversary, Enzo Ferrari's imminent ninetieth birthday, and a request for a bold replacement for the 288GTO, were instrumental in Pininfarina (via their eminent designer Leonardo Fioravanti) penning and delivering the visceral F40, in 1987. With an intended production run of just 300 units - overwhelming global demand mean't approx.. 1,315 examples were delivered between 1987 and 1992...SOLD
