Vehicle Overview

On October 12th 1998 at the US Transportation Research Center in Marysville Ohio, an International group of journalists (from Car and Driver and Quattroruote magazines) captured three production car world speed records using a “stock” Ferrari 550 Maranello,
#ch #ZFFZR49C000118957.

Painted in grigio titanio with a Bordeaux interior and equipped with a “Carrozzeria Scaglietti” sports-handling-kit, which included -

  • · stiffer shock absorbers

    · helicoidal springs

    · modified steering

    · an infra-red tyre temperature control system

    · a special OMP manufactured roll cage

    · sports seat with four point harness

    · an automatic fire extinguisher

    · rapid refuelling system

    · an additional electronic pump to potentially over come power-steering or brake servo failure

  •

  • The records captured were –

  • · quickest production car to 100 kms distance (304.1 km/h)

    · quickest production car to 100 miles distance (306.037 km/h)

    · most kilometres completed in one hour (296.168 km/h)

  • To celebrate this achievement, Ferrari S.p.A. produced thirty-three 550 Maranello’s with the same specification, ten in right-hand-drive, twenty-three in left hand drive. Whilst the former were all delivered in grigio titanio with bordeaux interior, approximately six of the latter were delivered in special ordered colours.

  • Immediately available for viewing, purchase and registration without additional cost, if it remains in the UK - or ready for export.

  • A UK auction house sold a LHD Ferrari 550 Maranello WSR on 7/3/15 for the same price we are seeking - the exceptional example we offer, has a lower mileage, with the added benefits of four brand new tyres and a cam-belt service, five miles ago.

  • Supplied with all books, tools, torch, warning triangle and schedoni wallet, including a complete service record, an original bill of sale and an authentication document for the car from the Maranello Archive - this is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire a very limited production, front-engined V12 Ferrari, in a rare colour combination, with just one family ownership from new.
